San Diego metro · Count
Figures are counts of completed deliveries, providers, and accounts in this window from our records, as of October 2026. Roll-off deliveries are containers delivered. Portable toilet deliveries are units placed, not orders. A company that completed both services is counted in both service rows, so those rows are not a split of the provider total. The counts are not a promise that every address is covered. Front-load service, compactors, and balers are not in these counts. The sanitation figure adds portable toilets and hand-wash units placed. Where a restroom-trailer count is shown, it is units placed.
The notes here come from City of San Diego pages read October 26, 2026. Check the bulletin again before you set the box. Chula Vista and Carlsbad are the other cities in the Census title, and each writes its own street ordinance. Bulletin 718 is the City of San Diego document.
Development Services Information Bulletin 718, dated July 2026, says a Traffic Control Permit is required for a temporary storage container or dumpster that encroaches into the public right-of-way, including the sidewalk. It cites San Diego Municipal Code section 129.0702. You file form DS-269 with a traffic control plan that conforms to the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the city's supplemental amendments. Give at least three working days' notice before placement. The plan has to show the street, the nearest cross streets, driveways, parking meters, and painted curbs.
Keep the container off a red, white, or blue painted curb. The dumpster door stays at least 10 feet from an obstruction, 25 feet from an alley or curb return, and 15 feet from a fire hydrant. Post tow-away signs 72 hours before placement. A storage-container permit runs up to 7 days. For a dumpster, read the duration section of Bulletin 718, which treats the dumpster on its own terms. The bulletin lists no exemptions.
Bulletin 718 and the Traffic Control Permit page cover dumpsters and storage containers in the public right-of-way. Construction crew counts are on the OSHA portable toilet requirements guide.
The City's Miramar Landfill and Greenery page, read October 26, 2026, calls Miramar the city's only active landfill. It is at 5180 Convoy Street. Business hours are Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The gate is closed Sunday, and closed New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Self-dumping vehicles are accepted until 4:30 p.m. Organic material is diverted to the Greenery for mulch, compost, and wood chips. The West Miramar area is the part still operating.

On a San Diego street, the local constraint is Bulletin 718's clearances and the three-working-day notice. Outdoor crews also have Title 8, section 3395: shade when the temperature exceeds 80 degrees Fahrenheit, drinking water, and a written heat plan. A project that has to report diversion still needs the construction waste management plan described with CALGreen on the state page.
Every row covers the full metro. These are the city names inside the Census title.
