Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs site services, with a revocable permit to plan around

Local haulers do the work; we hold the contract, own the problems, and send one bill. In Colorado Springs a street container rides on a permit the city can pull at any time, so a long job needs a backup spot.

Last reviewed October 27, 2026.

Short answer

  • Dumpsters and POD storage containers in the right-of-way fall under a Surface Revocable Permit from Land Use Review, and the city may revoke it at any time for any reason.
  • A container can't interrupt vehicle or pedestrian traffic or take up more than one fifth of the width of a paved sidewalk.
  • For parks events the city recommends two portable toilets for every 250 attendees, with at least 10 percent accessible.
  • 11 providers in our provider network have completed jobs in Colorado Springs.

A second spot for every container

A contractor running several Colorado Springs sites needs a plan B for any container parked in the right-of-way, because the permit it rides on is revocable. Those sites live on one account with us, and we answer for the lot. When a pickup gets missed, we contact the hauler the same business day.

A one-site job with room off the street doesn't need us; a hauler's own dispatcher can handle it. See hauler, broker, and provider network for how the models differ, and the Colorado page for state rules.

Figures are counts of completed deliveries, providers, and accounts in this window from our records, as of October 2026. Roll-off deliveries are containers delivered. Portable toilet deliveries are units placed, not orders. A company that completed both services is counted in both service rows, so those rows are not a split of the provider total. The counts are not a promise that every address is covered. Front-load service, compactors, and balers are not in these counts. The sanitation figure adds portable toilets and hand-wash units placed. Where a restroom-trailer count is shown, it is units placed.

The revocable permit for street containers

The city's Planning and Development page lists trash and construction dumpsters and PODs among the temporary uses of the right-of-way that need a Temporary Surface Permit. The structure can't interrupt the flow of vehicles or pedestrians, and it can't take up more than one fifth of the width of any paved sidewalk. The word revocable means what it says: the city may revoke the permit at any time for any reason. Questions go to Land Use Review.

Traffic control permit fees

The City Engineer issues permits for concrete, excavation, and traffic control work in the right-of-way. Traffic control fees follow the traffic count on the affected street. A job that starts without a permit pays double the fee, and a second offense pays triple. The permit page for containers doesn't say a dumpster needs a traffic control permit, so ask Land Use Review whether a lane or turn restriction changes the answer.

Government fees as published; provider pricing is separate and quoted per job.

Toilets at Colorado Springs events

Event organizers in city parks supply their own portable toilets, trash receptacles, and hand sinks, and the park's restrooms and dumpsters stay for general visitors. The parks rules recommend two portable toilets for every 250 attendees, with at least 10 percent ADA accessible and never fewer than one. For units left overnight the city suggests locking them. Crew counts for job sites are in the OSHA portable toilet requirements guide.

Hail and the Colorado Springs calendar

NWS Pueblo covers Colorado Springs. It issues a severe thunderstorm warning for wind of 58 mph or more, or for hail an inch across or larger. Census permit data shows houses holding level while larger apartment buildings slow.

Colorado hail runs from about 3/8 of an inch to about 4 1/2 inches. Keep drywall and insulation covered before afternoon storms.

  3. January
