Reno
Local haulers do the work; we hold the contract, own the problems, and send one bill. Reno's container permit spells out how a dumpster must be coned, covered, and, downtown, locked, and the city can revoke it at any time.

Short answer
Every Reno dumpster carries a list of conditions, and a hauler that skips one risks the permit. We keep your sites on one account and answer for them. When a pickup gets missed, we contact the hauler the same business day.
Reno writes most of its rules into the permit, so the container's placement is checked as much as its paperwork. Set out the cones on the street side, keep it off red zones and restrictive parking areas, and leave driveways open. Downtown jobs need lids that lock and stay closed when no one is working, and a container may have to leave before a downtown event. If your schedule runs into one, plan a pull and a fresh drop instead of hoping the date slides.
A one-week residential dumpster is a job for the dumpster company alone. The hauler, broker, and provider network page shows where we fit, and the Nevada page has state rules.
Counted here are deliveries to job sites in Reno for October 26, 2024 through October 26, 2026, minus anything canceled.
Figures are counts of completed deliveries, providers, and accounts in this window from our records, as of October 2026. Roll-off deliveries are containers delivered. Portable toilet deliveries are units placed, not orders. A company that completed both services is counted in both service rows, so those rows are not a split of the provider total. The counts are not a promise that every address is covered. Front-load service, compactors, and balers are not in these counts. The sanitation figure adds portable toilets and hand-wash units placed. Where a restroom-trailer count is shown, it is units placed.
Reno requires a temporary encroachment permit for dumpsters, PODs, and storage containers in the public right-of-way, with applications emailed to Public Works. Beyond the cones and red-zone rules, a dumpster must be covered or emptied daily and stay covered whenever wind is strong enough to blow debris off it. No travel lane, bicycle path, or sidewalk may be affected, and where parking meters are present the applicant orders meter bags before delivery. The city can require a traffic control plan, shorten the permit, or cut the number of containers. Working without a permit triples the fee for a first offense and quadruples it for a second.
The city's container encroachment form, effective July 1, 2026, sets the weekly rate. Permits aren't refunded.

Dumpsters in the downtown area need lockable lids, kept closed and locked when work isn't actively taking place, and graffiti has to come off immediately. The city hosts events in the downtown corridor and requires dumpsters out of the right-of-way one day before an event starts. Failing to follow the conditions can end the permit.

NWS Reno reports 4 to 10 inches across the main urban areas of far western Nevada, with icy roads lingering into the 20th.
Gusts up to 60 mph were reported across lower elevations. Covers and lids matter more on days like that.
