Detritus/Resources/Portable toilet rental cost
Cost guide
Portable toilet rental cost is a local number. A standard unit with weekly service is not one national price and not a typical price. The table below collects a county contract and a town bid, each labeled with the place and the year. Those rows show the spread. They do not say what a given site will pay.
These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
Actual pricing depends on location, hauler, container or unit type, service frequency, weight, fees, and timing. Only a written Detritus quote is binding. Prices in the public sources below may have changed since they were published. See the terms of use.

Location moves the bill first. After that, the rate moves with the unit type, the service frequency, the length of the rental, and whether hand washing is a separate unit. Delivery distance and a damage or tip-over callout show up when the price list itemizes them. A monthly construction price with one service a week is not comparable to a one-day event price until both quotes say what is included, and until both quotes name the address.
Unit types and how Detritus quotes a construction cycle against an event window are on the portable toilet rental page. How many units a crew needs is on how many portable toilets. Event counts are on event restroom planning. Service cycle, service frequency, and hand wash station are defined in the glossary.
Each column is one place and one document. Dinwiddie County, Virginia, posted a contract with Eure Inc. for portable toilets and hand-washing stations. The contractor’s quote is dated September 2, 2026. The contract term is one year beginning December 1, 2026. Long-term prices are a monthly rental with weekly maintenance. Short-term prices are per day and per weekend, and on this contract those two periods are the same dollar amount. The opening date line of the posted file was blank when this page was written.
The Town of Mashpee, Massachusetts, read United Site Services prices at a bid opening on November 6, 2024, with columns for calendar 2025 and calendar 2026. The minutes record the prices read. They do not record an award. Treat the Mashpee column as bid prices, not as proof of what the town pays. The two columns show the spread between those documents. They do not say what a given site will pay.
| Unit and service | Dinwiddie County, VA, 2026 | Mashpee, MA, 2026 bid |
|---|---|---|
| Standard, monthly, weekly service | $110.00 | $135.00, one cleaning a week |
| Standard with sink, monthly, weekly service | $112.00 | Not a line on the minutes |
| ADA, monthly, weekly service | $163.00 | $170.00, one cleaning a week |
| ADA with sink, monthly, weekly service | $178.50 | Not a line on the minutes |
| Hand-wash station, monthly, weekly service | $42.00 | Not a monthly line. A 4-person sink is $120.00 per event |
| Standard, short term | $100.00 per day or per weekend | $109.00 per event |
| ADA, short term | $170.00 per day or per weekend | $149.00 per event |
| Hand wash, short term | $94.99 per day or per weekend | $120.00 per event, 4-person sink |
Dinwiddie County, Virginia, monthly prices include weekly maintenance. The contract term begins December 1, 2026. Mashpee, Massachusetts, prices are the calendar-2026 column read on November 6, 2024. The minutes do not define whether “per event” is one day or a weekend. These columns are local data points. They are not a national average, and they are not what a given site will pay. Sources are at the end of this page.

Five local facts sit under a unit price. Where the waste is taken, and what that facility charges. How far the service truck drives. Whether a county contract, a permit, or an open bid sets the market. What labor and fuel cost on that route. And which local taxes or fees get added. Unit type and service frequency still change the bill. They do not erase the place.
A portable toilet is not priced as a ton of municipal solid waste, so this page does not turn a landfill tip fee into a unit price. Disposal cost is still local. The Environmental Research & Education Foundation’s May 31, 2024 summary of its 2023 analysis, drawn from 342 landfills, reports regional average tip fees from $43.18 per ton in the Southeast to $84.44 per ton in the Northeast. Those are landfill gate rates, not toilet rates. The commercial dumpster cost guide cites the full regional list. This page has no cited public schedule of septage or treatment-plant fees by region, so it does not invent one. Ask where the truck pumps the tank, and what that facility charges.

Hauling distance is the service route, not a national mileage card. Dinwiddie County’s contract does not publish a mileage charge or a dry-run fee, and it uses one unit price across the county’s locations. Mashpee’s bid minutes do not price delivery by the mile either. A site outside that county, or a route that adds a second trip, is a different job. Neither document is what a given site will pay.
Competition and the rules are local. Dinwiddie’s prices are a posted county contract with one contractor. Mashpee’s prices are a bid reading, and the minutes do not record an award. A city that bids sanitation once a year is a different market from a jobsite where several vendors can price the same address. Permits and event rules can require an ADA unit or a service frequency the base unit price does not include.
Labor and fuel are priced where the truck runs. This page does not cite a wage index or a fuel-surcharge percent for portable sanitation, because neither document states one. Do not read a national solid-waste price index as a toilet rate.
Local taxes and fees are the last layer. A permit fee, a delivery charge, or a tax can sit outside the unit price. The extra lines these two documents do publish are local: Dinwiddie County, Virginia, lists additional cleaning at $19.50, and Mashpee, Massachusetts, lists extra cleaning and a tipped-unit callout at $30.00 each. Those are not a national fee schedule.

On Mashpee, Massachusetts, calendar-2026 bid prices, read November 6, 2024, a regular unit is $135.00 cleaned once a week, $240.00 twice a week, and $345.00 three times a week. Twice $135.00 is $270.00, and three times $135.00 is $405.00. The bid prices are lower than those multiples. A handicap unit is $170.00 once a week, $285.00 twice a week, and $460.00 three times a week. The same minutes list the calendar-2025 handicap price at three cleanings a week as $400.00, and the calendar-2026 price as $460.00. The regular once-a-week price is $135.00 in both columns. That is one town’s bid. It is not what a given site will pay.

Dinwiddie County, Virginia’s long-term prices include weekly maintenance. Additional maintenance or cleaning is $19.50. The contract says some units need service twice a week in season, and it prices that as additional cleaning rather than as a second monthly rate. A quote that says “weekly” and a quote that says “twice weekly” are different scopes. Adding a service can cost less than adding a unit, and it can cost more. The only way to know is to price the address.

How many portable toilets is where crew size and service frequency meet. The construction rule, including Table D-1 and the servicing letters, is on OSHA portable toilet requirements. This page does not repeat that count.
The two documents price a standard unit, an ADA unit, and hand washing. They also show that a sink is not one product. In the Dinwiddie County, Virginia, contract, a standard unit with a sink is $112.00 a month against $110.00 without one, and an ADA unit with a sink is $178.50 against $163.00. A separate hand-washing station is $42.00 a month with weekly maintenance, or $94.99 per day. The station is cheaper than a toilet on the monthly line and close to a standard toilet on the daily line. It is still a separate line. The hand-wash station page is the service description.

ADA units are higher than standard units in both documents: $163.00 against $110.00 on the Dinwiddie County, Virginia, monthly rate, and $170.00 against $135.00 on the Mashpee, Massachusetts, once-a-week bid. At three cleanings a week, the Mashpee calendar-2026 handicap bid is $460.00 against $345.00 for a regular unit. Whether a site needs an accessible unit is a permit and contract question. The count guide covers that. This page only prices the units these documents name. Those gaps are local. They are not what a given site will pay.

Flushable units and crane or high-rise units are not lines on either document. The portable toilet rental page describes those unit types. This page does not assign them a price. A restroom trailer is a different product, with power, water, and placement requirements on restroom trailer requirements and the rental on restroom trailer rental. Neither source here prices a trailer.
Dinwiddie County, Virginia’s long-term rate is a month with weekly service. Its short-term rate is $100.00 for a standard unit whether the period is a day or a weekend, and $170.00 for an ADA unit on the same choice. Four weekly services are inside the $110.00 month. One day is $100.00. The month is not four weekends at the daily rate, and the day is not the monthly rate divided by thirty. That contract is one county. It is not what a given site will pay.

Mashpee, Massachusetts, per-event bids are $109.00 for a regular unit and $149.00 for a handicap unit, calendar 2026. The minutes do not say how many days an event includes. Ask that before you compare an event bid with a per-day contract price. Neither figure is what a given site will pay.
These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
A written Detritus quote prices a construction placement and an event window on different terms. Those terms, including what happens when a job runs long, are stated on the portable toilet rental page and the event planning guide. Use them to see which clock a quote is on. The tables on this page are published local dollars. They are not that quote.
Dinwiddie County, Virginia, prices additional maintenance or cleaning at $19.50. It does not publish a damage fee, a mileage charge, or a dry-run fee. Mashpee, Massachusetts, bid prices list extra cleaning at $30.00 and a callout for a tipped unit at $30.00, in both the calendar-2025 and calendar-2026 columns. Neither document prices delivery by the mile. If a quote adds a trip charge, a relocation, or a damage waiver, it is a line these two documents do not include, and it has to be added before the unit prices are compared. Those lines are local. They are not what a given site will pay.

A hand-wash station that is forgotten at award shows up later as an extra order. On the Dinwiddie County, Virginia, monthly prices it is $42.00 with weekly service, on top of each toilet. On a one-day order it is $94.99. Mashpee, Massachusetts, prices a 4-person sink at $120.00 per event and does not show a monthly station rate.
These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
Dinwiddie County, Virginia’s contract uses one unit price for the county’s locations and lets the county add and remove units. It does not publish a volume discount. The same standard unit is $110.00 a month at each location on that contract, with weekly service. A program that crosses states does not inherit one county’s unit price. The commercial container sheets on the commercial dumpster cost guide show how far published rates for one service already diverge by city. Sanitation quotes need the same treatment: unit, frequency, and term at each address.

Pricing is quoted per location, under one agreement. Who holds the agreement when the provider is not the same company in every city is covered in waste broker vs hauler. Questions to ask are on how to evaluate a partner.
The $19.50 and $30.00 cleaning lines above are Dinwiddie County, Virginia, and Mashpee, Massachusetts, respectively. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
Send the address, the headcount, the dates, and whether you need ADA units and hand washing. Pricing is quoted for that location. On more than one site, each location is quoted on its own, under one agreement. The contract and bid figures on this page show the spread between two public documents. They are not what a given site will pay. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
There is no single national price. On Dinwiddie County, Virginia's posted contract, a standard unit is $110.00 a month with weekly maintenance, and an ADA unit is $163.00 a month. The contract term begins December 1, 2026. At Mashpee, Massachusetts's November 6, 2024 bid opening, United Site Services' calendar-2026 price for a regular unit cleaned once a week was $135.00, and a handicap unit cleaned once a week was $170.00. Those minutes do not record an award. Those are local data points. They show the spread. They are not what a given site will pay. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
There is no single national day, week, or month price. Dinwiddie County, Virginia's posted contract prices a standard unit at $100.00 per day and $100.00 per weekend, or $110.00 a month with weekly maintenance. An ADA unit is $170.00 per day or per weekend, or $163.00 a month with weekly maintenance. The contract term begins December 1, 2026. Mashpee, Massachusetts's calendar-2026 bid prices, read November 6, 2024, were $109.00 per event for a regular unit and $135.00 a month for one cleaning a week. The minutes do not define the length of an event. A per-day price and a monthly price are different products, because the month includes the weekly service. These are local examples. They are not what a given site will pay. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
The gap is local, not a national ADA premium. On Dinwiddie County, Virginia's posted monthly rates, an ADA unit is $163.00 and a standard unit is $110.00, both with weekly maintenance. An ADA unit with a sink is $178.50. The contract term begins December 1, 2026. On Mashpee, Massachusetts's calendar-2026 bid prices, read November 6, 2024, a handicap unit cleaned once a week is $170.00 against $135.00 for a regular unit, and a handicap unit cleaned three times a week is $460.00 against $345.00. The calendar-2025 column of those minutes listed the three-times handicap price at $400.00. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
Dinwiddie County, Virginia's posted contract prices a hand-washing station at $42.00 a month with weekly maintenance, or $94.99 per day or per weekend. A standard toilet with an interior sink is $112.00 a month against $110.00 without the sink. The contract term begins December 1, 2026. Mashpee, Massachusetts's bid minutes, read November 6, 2024, price a 4-person sink station at $120.00 per event and do not list a monthly station rate. Hand washing is a separate line from the toilet on these documents. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
Extra charges are local. Dinwiddie County, Virginia, prices additional maintenance or cleaning at $19.50 and does not publish a mileage, damage, or dry-run fee. Mashpee, Massachusetts's bid list prices extra cleaning at $30.00 and a callout for a tipped unit at $30.00. A quote for another address can still add delivery, relocation, or damage charges that these two documents do not itemize. Add those lines before comparing the unit price. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
Start with the address. Match the unit type, the number of services per week, and whether the charge is a month, a day, or an event. Then compare that price at each location. Dinwiddie County, Virginia's contract uses one unit price across the county's locations and does not publish a volume discount. A multi-state program does not inherit one county's price. On more than one site, pricing is quoted per location under one agreement. Ask who holds the contract and whether the sites land on one invoice. The figures on this page show the spread between two public documents. They are not what a given site will pay. These figures are examples from the public sources listed, as of the date shown. They are not a Detritus quote, offer, or price guarantee.
